Sunny Deol’s Border 2 has proved to be the undisputed winner at the Republic Day box office in 2026, as it has shown a phenomenal performance over the weekend. The movie ended its four-day domestic stint with an enormous nett collection of Rs 193.48 crore, making it the largest Republic Day release of the year. On Republic Day, Border 2 collected an enormous nett amount of Rs 63.59 crore, which is much higher than the collections of other Republic Day releases like Sky Force (2025) and Fighter (2024). Only Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan remains unbeaten in this regard, as it holds the record with a nett collection of Rs 70.5 crore on Republic Day in 2023. Starring Sunny Deol, along with Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty, Border 2 received a massive boost from the legendary status of the original Border (1997) and the popularity of Sunny Deol among the masses. Anurag Singh’s Border 2 opened with an enormous nett collection of Rs 32.10 crore on Friday, and its collections kept increasing steadily over the weekend, thanks to the positive buzz and the patriotic holiday season.

Trade figures reveal that Border 2 has comfortably outperformed other releases around the time of Republic Day, with Fighter grossing Rs 39.5 crore in 2024 and Sky Force raking in Rs 31.60 crore in 2025 on Republic Day. Prior to the Pathaan era, there were no major releases on Republic Day because the film industry was still recovering from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Border 2 has been a massive hit at the box office and has established a strong star in Sunny Deol.
